Waterford Global Inc. (Career Opportunity) RESEARCH SCIENTIST - VIROLOGY
	This is an opportunity for a new or recent Ph.D. in Virology (or a related Biological Science), as well as those with 1 to 4 years of relevant post-doctoral training, to join our client organization. This newly-created position is a best fit with those who are interested in establishing a career in research and in the development of viral vaccines and antiviral therapeutics. Reporting jointly to the Research Director and the Executive Director, the Research Scientist (Virology) is an important addition in building the research capability within the organization. In this newly-created role, the Research Scientist will be a key member of the team involved in the development of therapeutic antibodies and vaccines, and in the advancement of several product candidates with corporate and academic partners. Key competencies include: Research experience, as evidenced by a strong record of publications and/or a record of creativity and accomplishment, in the discovery of novel therapeutic interventions for the treatment and prevention of viral infectious diseases. Technical expertise and understanding of viral-based assays and tools used for producing and assessing therapeutic antibodies and vaccines including in vitro and in vivo models of acute viral infection; molecular engineering; molecular analysis of strain diversity; and modes of viral infection. The ability to multi-task and interact with others in experimental design and data interpretation, coupled with a strong work ethic and a high level of comfort working independently in the lab. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Supervisory experience is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in bio-safety level 3 (BSL/ABSL-3) research and/or with HPAI or WNV.
